1/ How does the co-host respond to guests?

The nowistay co-host is an AI assistant that relies on the information available about your property to provide accurate responses. That’s why it’s crucial to fill out your digital welcome book as thoroughly as possible—the more details you provide, the better the co-host can answer guest inquiries.

Prerequisites: Setting up the Nowistay co-host requires no software downloads and takes about 5 minutes. Here’s how to get started:

  1. Sign up on Nowistay
  2. Create your property
  3. Create a digital welcome book for your property
  4. Subscribe to the “Guide + Assistant” plan
  5. Add cohost@nowistay.com as a co-host on Airbnb. Everything is summarized in this article: Initializing and activating the AI assistant

How it works:

  • The co-host sees Airbnb guest messages.
  • It waits 3 minutes to make sure there is no other additional message from the guest.
  • It analyzes the message and generates a 100% personalized response directly on Airbnb.
  • It then replies on your behalf within the Airbnb conversation
  • You don’t have to lift a finger!
  • If you send a message before the co-host within the 3 minutes, it won't answer.

Disable automatic notifications in Airbnb messaging to avoid duplicate responses. If the Co-Host needs to reach you, it will contact you via email.
The AI can read emojis but cannot interpret images sent by guests.

2/ What happens if the nowistay co-host doesn’t know the answer?

The nowistay co-host has been designed as a real virtual assistant that only responds if it knows the answer. If it doesn’t, it will reach out to you instead.

How you’ll be contacted: the co-host will send you an email based on the level of urgency:

  • Notification email: a response or action is required from you.
  • Urgency email: a critical issue requires immediate attention.

Response handling: Once an email is sent to you, the AI assistant pauses responses for 2 hours, to allow you to take over. After this period, the co-host resumes activity and continues the conversation where it left off.

Examples:

  • Notification email triggers:
    • Is there space to store a double stroller?
    • Are there any rugs or carpets that might cause allergies?
  • Urgency email triggers:
    • The door looks like it has been forced open—what should I do?
    • The cleaning hasn’t been done!
    • We’re missing bed linens—is that normal?
